Hi Vanilla

It's been quite awhile since I last talked about Vanilla, my 3 year-old Maltese here. So here are some pictures I took of him recently. :) P/s Gonna dye hair soon but still contemplating as to whether or not I should do rebonding again.

Vanilla is a Maltese according to the pet vendor but we think that he is a Maltipoo (Maltese x Poodle). 

He has white Maltese fur color but curly Poodle hair. He has a pink nose and pink paws. Vanilla used to have turquoise colored iris, beautifully textured, when he was young but its now simply a beautiful shade of grey with a light brown ring near the circumference. He was my 18th birthday present from Mum. :)

Vanilla looks harmless but he is actually very egoistic and he thinks that he is the guard dog of the house, which is technically true but that was not what we expected from a tiny dog like him.

Vanilla used to be friendly towards everyone. :C He enjoys walks and car drives. He would run out the gates whenever we accidentally leave the door and gate open and would wait and whine at the gates when he's locked out till we open it for him to enter which is really really cute!

Vanilla's favorite toy is his ball. He responds to Bobo (ball ball) and whenever we say the word he would start searching around the house for his ball lol. 

He'd look literally possessed whenever we hold the ball in front of him and ready to throw lol. He leaves the ball near our feet for us to throw it for him, but he doesn't fetch the ball back to us right after and only does that when he feels like doing so. Diva much, I know!

He loves it when I speak to him and often than not it seems to me like he understands the things I say. :) 

He runs to me whenever I come home and doesn't respond to lil bro when he calls for Vanilla whenever I'm there lol. He responds to sit, shake, lie down, stay, come, roll over, up, turn around etc but wasn't able to master neither beg nor play dead. Still, personally I think he is pretty darn smart!! So proud to have him.

It warms my heart to see that Vanilla doesn't forget me even if I'm away so long so often and comes backs so short a time every time.  It breaks my heart however, to know that I can't be there for him when he needs me since I'm away for my studies. And I'm scared that I can't be there for him when he grow old. :(

Kuching Festival 2013

Back home in time for the annual Kuching Festival happening throughout July and August. :) 

Kuching Festival is basically a food festival which is considered a tourist attraction in Kuching, where you can get a wide variety of food and also enjoy performances. Will blog about my trip there with the family yesterday evening although I'm sure I'll be visiting it more than once!

Lil sis's favorite Coconut Ice Cream, rm2. She got one for me but I don't really fancy it lol.

Taiwan sausages and siow bee, rm2 each. The usuals.

My must have! Bubble pearl milk tea, rm3.5.

Oyster Mee Sua which was not bad, rm3.

Every year at food fest there would be a famous, overpriced, overrated food item that everyone would be in a craze to get and for the last year or two it was the Durian Puff.

Buzz of this year's food fest is the Fried Fresh Milk, which had made its way onto the local newspaper and apparently attracted a lot of attention. Daddy wanted to try this so I queued for it. Look at the line!

Got two packs of the Fried Fresh Milk, per pack is rm4 for 6 pieces.

I don't know what it's made of actually lol. It has a custard-like texture with a crispy outer layer, and the taste wasn't too bad but I was not crazy about it. Worth a try I guess though I don't think I would queue up for it again.

The VERY DANGEROUS Yam Cakes. To match the slogan, uniforms of vests and helmets are used to attract attention to a very normal food dish. But lol who am I to judge. The cakes were alright.

It gets more and more crowded later the evening.

There is also an ongoing talent show held at the stage here called Kuching Got Talent 2013. To sister, and all my friends participating tonight in the semi-finals, all the best!!

KL Food Hunts: Marche and My Burger Lab

I'm now back in KUCHING for my semester break! Feels uber good to be home. :) 

After finals are done and all it's now time I catch up with my overdue (mostly about food outings) posts. Three weeks home is a short time but I'm sure it will be awesome! Will be having tons of outings reuniting with old friends and family so I'm sure I will have more and more posts piled up for the future *shivers*.

Tried Marche, The Curve for the first time ever. I love the market place concept and design and they serve good food. There are a wide variety of western food choices from steaks, pastas to juices and desserts but the only thing I couldn't find, at the same time the dish I was craving for that day, was lasagna.

Chicken and Mushroom Quiche.

Mash potatoes. Simple dish but very delicious! The texture of the mash was so good and the gravy was thick and rich.

Rosti with Beef Sausage served with Sour Cream sauce. I didn't know what a rosti was until I tasted it. It was shredded potatoes and it is basically like hash brown. But the dish was good and I like the sour cream sauce a lot.

Baked cheese cake. I personally added the jam with a flick at the end on the side of the dish to make the dessert more presentable lol.

My lunch date Tim. :) Initially we wanted to order more than what we had, steak even lol. Luckily we didn't because it took us a lot of effort to finish the 4 dishes we got.

Vida performing with the other girls from TDC for an LG event. :) They prepared two sets of K-pop compilation dance performance and for each performance they danced for 15 minutes straight. Salute!

For dinner we went to the very famous My Burger Lab and it was another first time for me too. :) The restaurant was usually jam-packed from what I heard and it took us approximately 45 minutes of waiting time before reaching the counter. The long wait wasn't torturing at all thanks to the super funny bunch I was with!

The menu. The restaurant is very considerate in a sense that they categorized the meat, so people who cannot have beef can straight away move onto the Chicken list, and they provide choices of burgers for vegetarians too.

My Beautiful Mess. :) The famous charcoal burger finally! 

Love the texture of the crispy fried portabella (mushroom) along with the melted cheese and the soft savory patty. Chips were normal and bun was soft but other than the color nothing special for me lol. Worth the wait and wouldn't mind coming back again in the near future!
