Blackpool Pleasure Beach 220315

Will be writing about my trip to Blackpool with my friends last Sunday. Perfect intro picture because it indicated both the location and the date. :) Super sunny day that day! We are so lucky because both our trips to amusements parks were blessed with good weather.

Side note. Last weekend was super fun with Mnight kicking start the Easter break on Saturday followed by an after party which we stayed on until 6am. With zero sleep, friends and I then travelled to Blackpool on the following Sunday. #youngwildfree Will blog about Mnight soon when there is hopefully an official release of the performance videos.

Blackpool on the UK map. :) It was a 3-hour bus ride away from Leeds. Looks like it would be nearer to travel straight to Blackpool from Leeds? But en route we stopped at Manchester for a transfer. P/s missing Manchester so much.

A few pictures that I manage to capture of the beautiful laid back sea-side town, before being lugged away to the amusement park. Would love to come back again to explore the town a little more!

Love this picture with Tyy Pey. :)  Behind us was our first ride of the day as a warm up before the scarier rides.

At Blackpool there is an Alice in Wonderland themed ride too! It's supposedly a family ride but still super creepy to me. I've mentioned me not loving Alice in Wonderland in my Disneyland post. You can pass off the depressing story to children using the pretty colours and cute singing characters but the darkness behind it all still bothers me lol. Anyone relate?

Doughnuts are super popular here! Bought 5 for £2.8 and I had 3 all to myself. :) It's so good and has a different texture compared to normal doughnuts you get in bakeries. Crispy on the outside chewy on the inside.  Even at closing time people were still queueing for them.

Took pictures with this particular wall because the windows were pretty. Love the bottom pic especially, because we all looked really cool. Proud to have pretty friends. :D

How do I look in my bright yellow sports car? ;) We queued up for half an hour for this thinking it's gonna be some boring kid's ride but it was actually really fun! Got to handle the gas pedal and the steering wheel and drive around the track with full control hence worthy of so many pictures! Imagining myself as a kid who's never drove a car before I would enjoy this even more lol.

After the thriller ride Infusion we sat down and grabbed a bite to eat. :) Had the cup of mussels for £2.

A wefie before the Big Dipper took off and picture taken while standing in queue for the Avalanche.

Picture of me taking a selfie with my ice cream cone topped with toffee syrup (£1.75). :)

Group picture overlooking the glorious tracks of the Big Dipper, Infusion and The Big One. :) The park closed at 5pm that day and there were still a ton of rides we didn't get to go on. There is also the Nickelodeon Land that we didn't manage to explore. So a second trip here is a must! Haha.

This time round I remembered to keep style in mind while going after a casual and comfy outfit. Loving the bucket bag trend and rocking it with this gorgeous but super inexpensive one from Primark. Jeans with ripped detail from Zara. :)

We were like a bunch of zombies by the time we leave Pleasure Beach lol. Had our early dinner at The Dutton Arms and I crashed on the table for a nap right after. Had their Gammon Steak before I passed out, remembering it being a tad too salty lol. After that, we travelled back to Leeds by bus and then by train from Preston Station.

Back in Leeds, despite the tiredness we still manage to gather at a friend's house for supper and a few rounds of card games, only calling it a night at 3am. Again #youngwildfree haha. Till the next adventure!

Dance Competitions w/ Leeds Freestyle

It's now Easter break! Classes do not resume until end of April but time flies and exams are coming in May omg. So far March has been a very productive month for me having so much going on. Finally I've the chance to sit down and write in my beloved blog. :) Today I'll be jotting down the two dance competitions I've joined with Leeds Freestyle Dance Society over two weekends in March.

Freestyle was the first and only dance society I've set my eyes on joining even before I came to Leeds and I'm really glad to have made the competition team for Hip Hop. On top of the rehearsal hours I had to commit to, I've put so much time, effort, energy (and *money) into these dance competitions. Really proud of myself and the team for our achivements! Initially did not want to blog about this because I've not a lot of pictures but for memory sake I'm gonna make do with what I have.

*£80 was paid for competition fee, transportation and accommodation for the competitions. The announcement of the payment took a few of us by surprise because we only knew about having to pay after weeks into rehearsing for the competition. £80 is not considered a small amount of money. For me it was fine because I had backup savings, but imagining myself in the shoes of someone with financial issues and couldn't manage to chip out £80, all the time and effort I put into the rehearsals would be for nothing. But yea, the committee apologized for not notifying earlier and said to inform earlier in the future so it's all good now!

Sheffield Dance Competition 010315

First time in Sheffield but didn't manage to explore the city because the whole day was spent at the competition site. Loved the competition venue which was so classy and professional-looking. Met my girl from Kueendom representing Leicester Uni in the Advanced Hip Hop category, she's amazing and her team walked away with first place in the category. Kueendom represent! Leeds Freestyle walked away with silver for Intermediate Hip Hop, other than first place for both Contemporary and Modern, and Best Choreography. :)

Loughborough Dance Competition 07-080315

Loughborough was a really big 2-day event and had a whole lot more teams from different universities joining. Tension was high! Hip Hop category was on Sunday but since Contemporary was on Saturday, the whole team travelled there together in the morning of the Saturday. Don't really like the layout because the competition teams' seating area was so far from the stage, separated by the audience's seating area. That night, all the unis went for a night out a club at Loughborough Student Union's wearing the competition tee. Results for competition day one was announced at the club and there was a dance off on stage between unis it was so much fun. :) Shared a room with Rachel and had a really good night sleep after a long day. Hip hop team didn't manage to get any placing from this competition because there were so many good teams. :( But the Modern Jazz team walked away with first place! So proud so proud.

Competition routine at Loughborough. :) This routine really tested my stamina and I worked my butt off for it. Proud to be a part of this beautiful and super fun piece. (link)

Love my Freestyle hoodie even though it's too big on me. :) So much love for the choreographer of our competition piece Cheeks. And love for my team mates as well always trying to include me in everything despite me being the super quiet super awkward only Asian in the group haha.

Chinese New Year 2015

CNY 2015 is my first (and hopefully, only) CNY away from home. D: Even when I was studying in KL I would always have holidays to head home and celebrate. Reunion dinners with family and Vanilla, fire crackers and fireworks on cny eve, take loads and loads of pretty pictures with my pretty sister and cousins and to reunite with friends that wouldn't likely meet if not for the festive seasons and gamble the days away. (Never spent cny with Tim so he's not included here lol) Cried when I was cam calling my family while they where having reunion dinner that I had to hang up to avoid making them sad too, and almost burst into tears when cam calling with relatives at a usual family gathering. TT

Although I'm missing out the celebrations back in Kuching, I'm thankful to have a bunch of amazing people to celebrate with and events to go to and curb the away from home loneliness while here. :)

First up, the law school organised a CNY lunch for us students away from home. :) The food were prepared by the law school and it was free of charge which was really nice of them! To name the few dishes that I remember, there were fried rice, fried noodles, duck spring rolls, dumplings and chicken wings. To my delight, they also had prawn crackers, of which I had a lot a lot. To make up for the ones I would be eating non-stop if I'm back home lol. While although the lunch was meant for us students away from home, a lot of locals came for the free food no judging though lol sharing is caring.

On the eve of cny, I went to a Chinese restaurant called Maxi's Leeds with my law school bunch and we had our reunion dinner there. :) The restaurant was packed with Chinese families and friends and it's so rare here to see so many Asians in one place haha. Had loads of awesome well-missed Chinese delicacies like prawn, beef, roast pork belly, tofu etc. The night ended with ice cream and toast as dessert plus games with Koppabergs and beers at a friend's place.

First day of CNY was celebrated with steamboat. And we had roti canai and green bean soup with glutinous balls for dessert. :D It's a tradition to wear red and new clothes on the first day of CNY, and friends were all dolled up prettily. I didn't though lol, which was also a first. Instead, I dressed sloppily in a t-shirt and sweats because I had a dance practice session that evening. Laughed the night away with games such as charades which came to a sudden halt as we received a threatening hand-written note of complaint from other tenant saying that if we do not leave soon the person will report us LOL.

On the second day of CNY I went for the Massoc Chinese New Year dinner. :) Tried my very best to incorporate red in my outfit by wearing a maroon romper layered underneath a black sweater. And I wore red lipstick!

Make up of the evening was achieved with the Rimmel Glam Eyes HD in Brixton Brown, Maybelline New York Gel Eyeliner, e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow in Toasted finished off with the NARS Audacious Lipstick in the shade Grace. :)

Bev introduced the Maybelline gel eyeliner and I've been using mine for a long while now and I usually draw my eyeliner with the angled brush I got from Etude House. Been tempted to try new eyeliners but this lasts forever! As for the eye-shadow, I used the super pretty champagne gold shade (1) from the Rimmel palette in the inner corner of the eyes and the gold eyeshadow (2) on the lids then defined the crease with (3) the dark brown shade from the palette. Super pretty eye makeup that's super easy to achieve!

Side note, I really love this palette. Got it at the beginning of fall when burgundy was the it colour and I do not have any burgundy shades in the palettes that I own. What sold me ultimately was the champagne shade which I have been wanting to find for so long. Overall a beautiful palette that I really recommend!

Another night filled with yummy food and great company at the Oriental City Restaurant Leeds. :) We also had Yee sang which I didn't expect we'd get and it was super yummy! Super happy about that. :D

Ending this post with some selfies taken with the Massoc friends at the restaurant before we moved to another friend's place for a super fun house party with a lot of chatting and drinking and crazy games. It was a really fun night!

Compared to the celebration I would've had if I'm home, celebrations this year is considered really short. But I'm satisfied nonetheless. :) Chinese New Year is ending in 2 days time. Back to more law school and dancing! Hope all of you had a great celebration so far!
