My Birthday 2015

It's my birthday today!! And since I'm queen today haha I'm taking the day off studying to blog about it. :)) Birthday wishes from all my loved ones really made my day. If only I can document all the sweet messages and videos of birthday songs I've received on here! Just finished replying everyone on Facebook who's wished me. :D Last paper of degree life is on the 2nd! Can't wait for exams to be over.

Flash back to May 3rd when the law school gang made a date on the Saturday to hang out. We planned for tea and dinner and decided to all dress up nicely for the day. The girls even agreed on floral theme for clothes. Our tea session was at Mrs Atha's. Then suddenly...

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you~~" Two cakes were sent to the table by the waiters and I was like?? Turned out it was actually a surprise advanced birthday celebration for May babies Tyy Pey and I!

Our exams were starting on the 20th of the month and everyone needed to study so they pushed the celebration forward. Super thoughtful! Didn't expect it at all because my birthday was still a long way to go from 3rd. And apparently they've been making mistakes in group chats and conversations and were worried about giving the surprise away but luckily both of us were innately blur we didn't catch any of it ahaha.

Love this series of pictures of us making wishes, cutting cake and opening our presents. :) Tyy Pey was gifted a Swarovki heart shaped pendant on chain and my present was a Pandora charm! *heart shaped eyes*

Then we attacked the cake and sat and talked. As usual, super happy vibes with this bunch. ♥ Law school gang made up of the eight of us became uber close only within these few months time in Leeds. Grew so attached to them and in a blink of an eye final year is coming to an end! Sigh time flies but it's been an amazing year thanks to them!

After dinner we went to Sing k and had Japanese at Sushiwaka for the second time. First time here was when we celebrated Jia Wing's birthday back in April. Udon noodles are growing to become one of my favourite foods!

With Tyy Pey in our florals! Super sweet girl mad thankful to have gotten close with her. :)

Ootd and look at my ombre hair! I really love it so much. :D Doesn't look like much change but do know that I'm not very adventurous with my hair and this took me a lot of courage haha! Have decided to go short eventually because my hair is way too long. Promised myself before that cut I will go crazy with the lengths and experiment without fear of damaging it since it's gonna go anyway! Expect me with blonde ends very very soon maybe la.

Top- HM/ Skirt- Forever 21/ Black ankle booties that I wear all the time from Deichman

Hesitated whether or not to post these and decided to just go with it! Haha at least I looked really happy.

My baby Pandora bracelet with it's newest addition, the super sparkly heart shaped one from the gang. :D  Initially planned to go for a silver theme by only collecting silver charms because I wanted my bracelet to look more sophisticated than cute. Not complaining thou! I was lucky enough to have received 3 pink charms as presents. :) It changed my bracelet's theme into silver and pink which is super pretty if not prettier and I think it suits my personality really well I love it. Mad thankful. ♥

Of course this amazing view would not be possible had Tim not get me my Pandora bracelet for Valentine's Day last year! The clips and 3 lovely charms are from him. ♥ Read about my last Valentine's here.

Fast forward to 28th May. Received another piece of cake from the girls bought from Patisserie Valerie. The gang had European Union law paper in the afternoon and since we had 4 days till Equity and Trust, we went to town and dinner was at Nando's before another hang out session till late. The cake followed me around the whole evening and was found in bad condition by the time I reach home late that night awwww. Shu Woei also got me a bag of titbits from the campus refectory and it such a sweet gesture!

Today. :D Apart from receiving so much love from friends and family, I received a picture of Mum looking like it's her birthday haha. Jokes aside, posting this picture because I Mummy looking super gorgeous here!

Like last year, the family baked me a gorgeous cake, this time overflowing with chocolates, and sent a video to me singing happy birthday. Really thankful of them for doing this. :')

This to represent the beyond epic video
received from my  Kueendom babes haha
And this to represent the wishes received from the loved
Chillies! Jasy is super gorgeous btw love her.

Spent the actual day at home because apart from being sleep deprived I just wanted to chill at home and have some time for myself. Watched Age of Adaline (which was a beautiful movie) while eating the cake my friends gave me. :)

I really enjoyed my birthday this year. Thank you everyone for making me feel special on my special day. 23rd year on earth will be an amazing one I'm sure of it!

Current Skincare Routine- Combination Skin

With dehydrated combination skin, I find that my current skincare regime is doing real good for my skin. Also this is in my opinion my most complete skincare regime to date and I am enjoying the condition of my skin right now. :)

Grew a craze for makeup these few years but lately I find myself spending more on skincare instead of makeup. I guess I'm in that stage of life where I came to realise that the skin is definitely more important than the makeup that go onto it. Truth be told I don't think I am not the best person to be preaching skincare because I do not have the nicest skin. I'm not born with nice skin and I struggle with acne prone oily combination skin since young. All the problems a skin can have, I have it lol sad but true. But I do try very hard to take good care of my skin! Some of the products mentioned are running low and I will probably want to try out new products so. Rather than educating my readers on skincare, which I know is not my strong suit, I'm here to jot down what I'm using currently for reference in case I want to return to this regime in the future.

My cleansing routine:
Melilea Soothing Milk Cleanser
Melilea Floral Exfoliant
The Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask.

I use the milk cleanser every day and once or twice per week I add in the floral exfoliant with my cleanser for a scrub. Occasionally when I feel like my skin requires deep cleansing, especially after days of dancing or sweating, I would use the mineral mask on my skin. The mineral mask heats up once it touches the skin and boosts blood circulation I love how brightened my skin looks after every use.

Night time skincare routine:
Melilea pH Balance Toner
The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel

After cleansing I will spray twice the toner onto my face and pat it in followed by the Vitamin E serum. The overnight serum I'm using is in oil form and it comes with a dropper. I put a drop each on my forehead, both my cheeks, nose and chin and message it in. Then I complete my nightly routine with the moisturiser.

People with oily or oily combination skin might cringe at the word oil seen on skin care products. I used to think too that oily skins are not suitable to use oil based products but that is far from the truth! From some research I found that the oils in skincare are different from the oil produced by the skin and would not contribute to acne, that using oils on oily skin is actually good for the skin. I am probably making no sense right now haha and if I go into detailed explanation it would take me a super long paragraph if not long enough already lol. But I assure you using good oils really help the skin! My forehead was at one point in time an acne-filled war zone but it's now fully cured. :)

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion is a best seller but I chose the gel instead of the lotion because the lotion is thicker and I dislike it when there is tackiness. The gel get absorbed quickly and it feels really light on the skin so I enjoy it a lot! I got mine in the 125ml bottle and I've been using it since September and I still have almost half a bottle to go. :)

Day time skincare routine:
Melilea Oxy Intensive Cream
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30
Clinique Super City Block SPF 40

After cleansing I would apply the oxy intensive cream concentrating it on the centre of my face before applying my moisturiser. And as found from research, you need to wear SPF everyday. My choice between the SPF depends on my activities for the day. If I'm staying at home or gonna be applying full-face makeup with foundation I'd use the sunblock but if I am going to campus or for daily casual outing I would go for the CC for a light coverage.

The Melilea range is gifted to me by Tim's mum and I love using it so much. The products are all organic hence no harsh chemicals will enter the skin. I especially love the milk cleanser because it is a light cleanser and even back in winter it does not dry out my skin after use. Recommends!

A newer addition to my skincare routine is the bareMinerals Blemish Remedy. In need of a new spot treatment gel I came across this product on the Boots website. (Btw in UK people refer to pimples as spots)

The product got mixed reviews but the majority of the people enjoyed this products so I went for it. The product came in a loose powder form and it has the minty tea tree smell. It came with a brush and all you have to do is swirl the brush in the powder and apply it directly onto the pimple. It also acts as a spot concealer but I just use it before I go to bed. For a product of only 1g it was definitely a splurge because with the price of this I can get myself a new MAC lipstick! But as I said before I am currently more into skincare than makeup so yea. Currently enjoying this product very much!

Another new addition to my skincare routine is this Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream. :) Initially I wanted a nice tinted moisturiser and considered to get the new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue, which has such good reviews and a perfect colour match for my skin tone, but it was sold out on the Boots website! So I went for the Clinique CC cream, which was my second choice and I love Clinique products so it's all good! Even thou a CC cream is considered half a makeup but instead of a foundation, I went for something that actually has beneficial properties for the skin. It moisturises and evens out my skin tone plus it has SPF 30 which is perfect for daily use. I'm in the shade light and as well as the packaging, I love this a lot a lot!

And that is my complete skincare regime for the moment. Hope this helps in a way that it recommended some new products to you out there who are interested in buying new skincare. Exams in 5 days time I'm going crazy! Back to studying now, write soon! :)

Hair update: Ombre w/ Loreal Preference Ombre Intense

Spring and summer means lighter hair colour and bye bye deep lipstick shades! Picture on my Instagram showing off my new Ombre hair with orange lipstick, Nars Audacious Lipstick in Geraldine. :)

My hair always stayed the same because I'm always in my comfort zone- long, brown hair. Not daring enough to go short, not daring enough to change my hair colour- all because I'm wary that it would turn out ugly and that it wouldn't suit me. I've wanted blonde ombre ends but I never dared to try it. After many years into the ombre trend, I finally took that step! I even texted my sis and told her that I'm going ombre and if it turned out bad I'm gonna go short. Haha going all out.

Sidenote: the Nars Audacious lipsticks are very pigmented but to make it more wearable for everyday I use them as lip stains.

Used the Loreal Preference Intense Ombre box dye in the shade N.104, for light to dark brown hair. (£5.99 from Superdrug) Mix 1, 2 and 3 and squeeze onto the brush and brush through ends of hair. The brush that came with claims to distribute the product evenly in the hair but I find that my hair tangled among the bristles easily.

To avoid a stark division of colour, I concentrated the dye at the ends for longer and after 20 minutes I apply the rest blending upwards. The recommended time for it is 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the intensity you want. As you can see, my hair is super dark and I want to achieve the lightest outcome possible, I left the dye on for the full 45 minutes. After that, I washed the product out with the shampoo that came with the box dye.

Picture shows before after dying and the immediate results I got. :)  Was a tad disappointed because it didn't go blonde as I hoped to. But from research it is impossible to go from dark to blonde without bleaching. And found from other reviews, people with dark hair achieved a lighter results using the box dye meant for lighter hair.

My hair turned out more orange than I like so I bought this Argan Blonde Silvering Shampoo to tone it. (£5.99 from Superdrug) The purple shampoo counteracts with the orange in the hair to remove the brassiness and help the dyed hair to have a more natural appearance.

Current ombre is subtle for everyday and but not too subtle that you cannot see it. It shows up in pictures beautifully. Loving the results. :) Even though I did not get the intense blonde ombre that I always wanted, I'll keep my hair like this because I really like it so far! Long hair is safe for now haha and will go lighter in the future maybe.
